This evening, minutes before the scheduled execution in Alabama of Leroy White, the United States Supreme Court issued a temporary stay of execution. The Court's temporary stay comes after the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, over a strong dissent by Judge Charles R. Wilson, denied a stay motion filed by EJI. At this hour, the Supreme Court is expected to rule later this evening.
