Walter McMillian, who is black, spent six years on Alabama’s death row for the killing of a young white woman that he did not commit. James “Bo” Cochran, who is black, was convicted of capital murder of a white store manager in a trial where the prosecutor illegally removed black people from the jury. Robert Tarver was executed despite an admission from the prosecutor that black people were illegally excluded from his jury. “Death in Dixie” features interviews with Mr. McMillian, Mr. Cochran, Mr. Tarver’s aunt Ethel Ponder, Bryan Stevenson, and former First Lady Rosalyn Carter.
