Join Serena Williams’s Campaign with EJI

03.01.15

Next week Serena Williams will return to the Indian Wells Pro Tennis Tournament where, over a decade ago, she was subjected to racial slurs. Now regarded as one of the greatest tennis players in women’s tennis history, she has decided to use her return to Indian Wells, where she won her first professional tournament, as an opportunity to support EJI’s work confronting racial inequality and injustice.

Serena is asking her fans to stand with her at Indian Wells and help her “shine a much greater light” on the “incredibly important work” of EJI. And she is offering one lucky supporter the chance to join her at the tournament, sit in the VIP box at her first match, and even try to return a few of her serves, all to support EJI. Monday is the last day to enter!

EJI is trying to address the narrative of racial difference in America that too often creates barriers for people of color and results in racially biased and discriminatory behavior. EJI is thrilled to be a part of Serena’s momentous return to Indian Wells and to be associated with her legacy of courage and extraordinary achievement.
